The (peri)menopause is a physiological phase characterized by profound endocrinological changes, which often manifest clinically as vasomotor symptoms, fatigue, mood disorders, sleep problems, and cognitive changes. Despite the known pathophysiology, the approach in practice often remains fragmented and symptom-oriented.

In this presentation, we approach (peri)menopause from a functional-medical perspective, focusing on the interaction between lifestyle, chronic inflammation, and hormonal dysregulation, and the implications thereof for diagnosis and treatment.

The role of testosterone in women during this life stage is specifically addressed, explained by Diederik Smit of the Android Health Clinic. This includes the clinical relevance of declining levels and the place of testosterone supplementation within a personalized treatment plan.
